At 02.10 pm until Tuesday, the police and the rescue service were alerted to an explosion in the center of Gothenburg.
– We received several calls about a strong hit or explosion, says Magnus Nordqvist.
The detonation was so loud that the rescue service chief of duty at the Lundby fire station across the river woke up.
– He said it was a strong and powerful blow, says Johan Eklund, alarm operator and command in the rescue service.
Heard all over town
Several people have contacted GP from different parts of the city. A person who lives in Eriksberg writes that the whole house vibrated with the blast.
The police were soon able to establish that some kind of explosion had occurred at a front door in Första Långgatan.
The door and the facade were damaged by the explosion and there was a fragment full of broken glass in the entrance.
– However, no fire broke out, says Johan Eklund, who explains that the rescue service was on site with three units, one of which was a management unit.
It is not clear what is behind
According to the police, the explosion must have taken place at the front door of a commercial premises.
Magnus Nordqvist does not want to speculate on what may be behind the explosion. The drama is so far being investigated as vandalism.
– We have had technicians on site and we will see what it offers, says Magnus Nordqvist.
Was it a loud bang?
– Yes, we can probably describe it as because it has been heard in parts of the city, but we did not have to take the national bomb shelter there, says Nordqvist.
At seven in the morning, no suspect had been arrested.
