More than a billion crowns. A lot of money can be lost this year due to Stockholmers tables on local traffic, SVT News reports.

Ticket fraud has increased dramatically since the outbreak of the corona pandemic. Despite significantly fewer inspections compared to last year, more additional fees have been charged.

– Normally we expect a trap of around 3 percent, but now we have indications that it may be at least 15 percent. In the end, it may mean that we cannot invest as much as necessary and have to reduce public transport in the future, Suss Forssman Thullberg, communications manager for the Swedish Transport Administration in Stockholm, tells SVT.

Swedish public transport is estimated to lose SEK 7.4 billion this year in lost ticket revenue, according to a forecast from Sweden’s municipalities and regions (SKR) and Swedish public transport. This is largely due to the reduction in travel, but extensive decking is also claimed to be equally behind the loss.
