The government with the cooperation parties is expanding two crown measures. The first is that employees on sick leave must present a medical certificate after two weeks, instead of the normal one week.
– It is a way of alleviating society and we think it is relevant now that the infection is also increasing in society again, says the Minister of Financial Markets for Bolund (MP).
In the spring, the exemption was introduced and extended once in September. By the end of the year, the exemption for medical certificates would have expired again and therefore cooperating parties make further exceptions to the requirement for medical certificates. The new extension is valid until April 30, 2021 and is estimated to cost SEK 200 million.
What is the effect of waiving the requirement of a doctor’s medical certificate?
– Medical care is under great pressure and does not need to be burdened any more with the writing of a medical certificate. It is about reducing the administrative work for the person who gets sick and for the employer and that care should not administer sickness certificates. What we do is we don’t require a medical certificate for the first two weeks of sick leave, says Per he.
The government, together with the cooperating parties, also extends Företagsakuten until the last June 2021, which is the second measure. The business emergency means that the State guarantees 70 percent of the loans that banks can give to companies and is aimed mainly at small and medium-sized companies.
– We have recently had to introduce additional restrictions and we know that this has a negative effect on companies. The infection itself makes people stay home, which also has a negative effect. That is why we want companies to have access to credit to face this difficult period, says Bolund.
Is it enough to save SMEs?
– It is one measure among many others. We see that companies use various other supports that we have introduced, such as short-term layoffs. But there are also 684 loans that have been issued through Företagsakuten and those companies have probably received a lot of help.
– It is important to leave this opportunity so that companies that need a loan can overcome this financial crisis, says Per Bolund.
