The fact that Evolution is now listed means that index funds that track the OMXS30 index must now include participation among holdings.
– It is positive for all the shareholders of Evolution Gaming, and among the private savers there are many. But at the same time, the trend with Evolution Gaming in particular has been that active managers have left the company and the entire industry for ethical reasons, leading to a change in ownership, says Frida Bratt.
He points out that there is a great demand for savings according to ESG criteria. At the same time, the fact that Evolution Gaming is now included in more index funds may give the ESG debate a boost again.
-I think more savers will want to see funds that at low management follow the index but exclude games, tobacco, weapons, etc., says Bratt.
Therefore, you think we will be trending towards more index funds – that is, funds that heavily follow the index but have the opportunity to opt out of certain stocks.
– The fund can then take the liberty of excluding certain holdings for sustainability reasons. And since the sustainability trend is unlikely to slow down, I just believe in a wider variety of index funds with a sustainability profile. They already exist, but there are likely more. But it also means that the index fund can do better or worse than the pure index fund, and the money saver should be aware of that, says Frida Bratt.
