Hundreds of well-declared covid-19 patients tested positive again in South Korea.

The findings raised concerns that the virus could reactivate in the body or that an infection would not confer immunity.

Now it turns out that the new tests have produced false results, the South Korean media reports.

The country’s infectious disease experts believe that killing viral fragments is likely the result of the 263 well-declared ones that have tested positive again.

South Korean counterpart of state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell, Oh Myong-don, spoke about the new findings at a press conference today.

“The test cannot determine if the virus is dead or alive, and can lead to false positive results,” he said.

He stressed that there is almost no reason to suppose that the virus can cause reinfections or reactivate itself.

Flattened the curve

On Wednesday, nine new confirmed cases of infection were reported in South Korea, giving today’s figure 10,761, according to the Johns Hopkins University compilation.

In the last eleven days, the number of new cases has been around ten, which is interpreted as the country that flattens the curve on the number of those infected by the new coronavirus.

South Korea, with a population of approximately 50 million, has reported a total of 247 deaths from the disease.
