– This is a pandemic that seems to have taken hold. Most effective is that all citizens follow the recommendations that exist, said infection control doctor Britt Åkerlind.
“We see a second wave”
She asks all the Eastern Goths to sit down every morning and if, for example, they have a bit of a sore throat, they should stay home.
– What we see is a second wave and how extensive it will be decided by those of us who live in Östergötland, said the president of the regional board Kaisa Karro (S).
After the summer, around 700 tests have been performed per day and for a long time the positive responses were maintained in one percent of the tests. Now, in the last few days, instead, one in ten tests has given a positive result and, therefore, has shown infection.
Now there is once again a very high pressure on the laboratory resources used by the Östergötland Region. One result of this is that the region is making progress in testing for antibodies.
Constantly increasing
Among those now being tested, it is clear that the largest group of infected people are in their 20s and 30s. In addition, it spreads in other groups. Infection control specialist Dr. Britt Åkerlind describes the rise as slow but steady.
As for the statistics of the deceased in covid-19, it will be adjusted. If a person was found to be infected with corona in March, but died in September, that person had previously been counted as dead in covid-19. In the future, those people will not be counted and the above figures may change.
