Sweden had a tough match against strong Croatia, but won the third quarter. Unfortunately, they were still 15 points ahead of the Croats.

With just over two minutes into the fourth quarter, the gap had dropped to ten points. But Sweden didn’t come any closer than that. Croatia won 87-72 in the end.

Denzel Andersson became Sweden’s best scorer with 22 points.

– Today is about a difference of experience. We go out too easily. But we are up against a good team. We can improve for future games, says Adam Ramstedt on the Swedish Basketball Twitter account.

Sweden lacks several important players. Among others, former NBA players Jonas Jerebko and Jeffery Taylor due to Euroleague matches.

On Sunday Turkey also won against the Netherlands, which share the lead with Croatia. The first three teams advance from the group. Sweden is currently last with four points. Third Turkey has five points.

The qualifiers for the European Championship will continue in February, including a second leg against the Netherlands. Despite two defeats this week, Sweden has a chance to keep going.
