Ten award-winning journalists harshly criticize the jury for the Journalist Grand Prize, which awarded a prize in the category “Revelation of the Year” to journalist Henrik Evertsson for the documentary series “Estonia: The Finding That Changes Everything”, which aired on Dplay this autumn.
The ten journalists, including Janne Josefsson and Jan Guillou, write in DN Debatt that the documentary series “only presents spectacular conspiracy theories, without any evidence that they are true”, and that Evertsson with the help of a suggestive editing and selection of stories creates the feeling of an obscuring the true causes of the sinking.
“We are surprised and concerned that the jury of the Journalist Grand Prize did not react to the conspiratorial rhetoric of the documentary,” they write and continue further down in the debate article:
“The jury is now guilty of the answer. Exactly what relevant discovery do you think Evertsson has made?”
