Erik Israelsson nodded on goal, which means Kalmar FF has the qualifying spot in his own hands.

Now a draw against BK Häcken is enough in the final round.

– It’s great to see the ball go in, says Israelsson.

Before meeting AIK on Friends, Kalmar was below the line. After the 1-0 win, they are three points ahead of Falkenberg on the table, in the standings. Erik Israelsson’s header in Romario’s corner was the only one of the game.

– I saw the ball court all the way and managed to go straight in. So it was just a matter of running to the corner flag and cheering and letting the time pass, says Erik Israelsson.

He adds:

– It was a similar situation in which I was against AIK a few years ago. But I remember him anyway, says Israelsson, referring to the goal he scored for Hammarby in the derby against AIK 2015 when he was hit hard and left the pitch in an ambulance.

– There was a little flashback to that match. It will always be special for me to meet AIK after my years in Hammarby, says Erik Israelsson.

“Always special to know AIK”

The goal meant that Helsingborgs IF left the Allsvenskan and Kalmar had qualification in his own hands against Falkenbergs FF.

– It’s a shame for Helsingborg, a nice and traditional club in the Allsvenskan. At the same time, so are we and now we have a chance to take a place in the rankings, says Erik Israelsson.

The midfielder believes that KFF has drawn energy from his calculation:

– Many have calculated us, both in Kalmar and in all of Swedish football.

Have you felt calculated?

– If we have. You are constantly reminded of the situation we are in. It is quite difficult to get rid of it, even at home in Guldfågeln Arena. But today we managed to gather strength and we took a third with a little fluidity.

“Take out the magic wand”

At Guldfågeln, Kalmar has yet to win this year. There is one game left against BK Häcken, who is fighting for a place in the European ranking.

– We took out the magic wand and waved a bit, I don’t really know what didn’t work there. But these ghosts you speak of are imaginary, says Erik Israelsson before the final round of the Allsvenskan.

Veteran Viktor Elm returned to the starting lineup despite severe knee problems. The midfielder made a great effort on defense.

– Standing was horrible. Very difficult. In the field, you can influence in another way. It’s a situation in which I feel most comfortable, says Viktor Elm.

Can you manage three more games?

– It remains to be seen. It feels that way right now, to be honest. But I won’t have to train to death anyway, I managed 90 minutes today.

“Don’t think of anyone else”

Unlike his teammate Israelsson, Viktor Elm does not regret Helsingborg leaving the Allsvenskan.

– That’s great for us, right? In this situation, I don’t think of anyone else. We will need a point in the last game. I think Falkenberg will win a third and then he will have a better goal difference if we lose.

Take a point then?

-Yes.

Have you had trouble winning at Guldfågeln?

– I really shit on that, as long as we take a point now, I’m happy.

So it’s also a qualifier …

– Then we must win, says Viktor Elm with a crooked smile.
