The conflict between France and Turkey has escalated.

This after the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo decided to let a cartoon of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan grace the cover.

The drawing shows a man imagining Erdogan sitting reclined in an armchair with his shirt and boxers on.

In one hand he holds a bottle of unfamiliar drink and in the other he holds up a woman wearing a hijab.

Deterioration of relationships after the teacher was beheaded

Erdogan has reacted angrily to the images and Turkey has launched a preliminary investigation against Charlie Hebdo, Ekot reports.

After history teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded on Friday, October 16, after showing one of Charlie Hebdo’s cartoons of the prophet Muhammad during a free speech lesson, relations between Turkey and France have drastically deteriorated.

I wanted to see a psychiatric exam

Rather than condemn the act, President Erdogan decided to suggest that President Emmanuel Macron should undergo a psychiatric examination because he considered Macron to be Islamophobic.

France responded by calling its ambassador to the country, after which Erdogan called for a boycott of French products and accused the Western world of attempting a new crusade.

– They want to start a new crusade. The seeds of evil and hatred are growing in Europe, President Erdogan said in a speech to parliament on Wednesday.
