Entered Paolo Rossi house – during funeral

Italian soccer icon Paolo Rossi was buried on Saturday.

At the same time, thieves broke into his home and stole various personal items, including a watch, the Ansa news agency reports.

300 people, including much of the gold team in 1982 and several other football legends, were in attendance today and brought Paolo Rossi to his final rest during a ceremony in a Vicenza cathedral.

– Paolo belonged to the people, he belonged to all of us and it is good that he is remembered for his greatness but also for the suffering he went through. He created me, he has taught me a lot about courage and facing problems with a smile, said the widow Federica Cappelleti in an emotional speech, among other things.

When he returned to their shared home in Tuscany, he was met with chaos. Thieves had broken into the house, Ansa writes. Among the stolen items was one of Paolo Rossi’s watches.

According to the news agency, the police must be on the scene and conduct a crime scene investigation.
