Zendaya, 24, became the youngest actress to date to win a drama Emmy for her performance in “Euphoria.”
“Watchmen” and “Succession” were among the winners. But Emmy Night was primarily owned by “Schitt’s Creek,” when nothing was business as usual when the world of television was going to celebrate safe from the crown.
– Welcome to the pand-Emmys, greeted host Jimmy Kimmel.
It wasn’t much as usual on last night’s broadcast of the Emmy Gala. Outside of the Staples Center in Los Angeles, from where the gala was broadcast, it was deserted.
Rather than posing in front of camera flashes on the red carpet, the nominees and most of the award winners, as well as other stakeholders, were able to follow and participate in the gala from home. More than 100 nominees were filmed in their homes, with some winners receiving their statuettes from a person wearing a protective suit similar to a tuxedo. The suits have been created by Katja Cahill and Guy Carrington, in collaboration with a manufacturer of protective suits.
“Schitt’s Creek” wrote a story during the occasional gala. The Canadian comedy series follows a wealthy family who ends up in an economic crisis and is forced to move to little Schitt’s Creek.

Julia Garner was praised for her acting role in “Ozark.”
Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy were awarded Best Leading Actor in a Comedy. Soon after, Dan Levy had to give three thanksgiving speeches in a row, as the series took home the screenplay and directing awards, as well as himself for best supporting actor in a comedy series. Then Annie Murphy took home the female supporting actress and the stunt from the speed series, as well as the best comedy series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it is a record number of Emmys for a single season of a comedy series, the series received a total of nine pieces along with the two awards that were presented earlier this week.

Jesse Armstrong chose to attack the corona virus, Donald Trump and Boris Johnson, when he received the award for best drama series.
Ruffalo received the award
When the comedy awards were settled, the spotlight could be shared a bit, and at least several series had something to celebrate. HBO’s “Succession” took home the Drama Series Writing and Directing Award, as well as Best Drama Series Award. The channel’s “Watchmen” won a pair of acting awards (Regina King for best female lead in a miniseries and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II for best supporting actor), as well as best miniseries.
Some politics infiltrated during the gala, not least the issues of diversity and the lives of blacks. Mark Ruffalo urged people to vote for America later this fall, when he received Best Leading Role in a Miniseries award for “I Know This Is True.”
“Vote for love, compassion and kindness,” he said.
The writer of “Successions”, Jesse Armstrong, dedicated his speech to thank when he received the award for best drama series.
– I want to thank the virus, because it keeps us apart this year. I would like to thank President Trump for his effective and uncoordinated response. Thanks to Boris Johnson who is doing the same in my country, thanks to all nationalists and all nationalist governments in the world who are the opposite of what we need now. And thanks to all the media moguls who allowed them to stay in power.

NASA astronaut Christopher Cassidy sent a greeting from the ISS space station.
Directed by Kimmel
The gala was led by host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who in his introductory speech vigorously joked, both about the fact that he was basically alone in the giant building, and about the pandemic in general.
– You can’t have a virus without a host, he said.
He also asked the relevant question of why a gala is being held amid an ongoing pandemic and fire disaster in the United States.
– Because it’s fun and we need it right now, he said.
