It all started as a common stomach ache for six-year-old Ellinor.
But when the stomach disease did not go away, she had to be hospitalized. Doctors fumbled in the dark until the third coronation trial.
– Suddenly, the nurse arrived with full protective equipment and then I understood immediately, says Hans Kenttä, Ellinor’s father.
When Aftonbladet arrives at Hans Kenttä, he and his daughter Ellinor sit and watch the cartoon version of Tarzan. The day before, they were finally allowed to leave the hospital. Now he and Ellinor are in quarantine at the family cabin in Haparanda.
– Ellinor is taken and tired after 14 days with fever and vomiting. It takes effort, says Father Hans Kenttä.
It all started three weeks ago, when six-year-old Ellinor had a fever and began vomiting at night, she had previously told NSD.
When Ellinor couldn’t keep anything, they went to the emergency room in Sunderby.
Then the doctors performed the first covid test, which came back negative. They squeezed, felt, and took samples.

“It took hour to hour”
– Doctors groped in the dark and the vomiting continued. He felt abandoned, in the end it took us hour by hour, says Papa Hans.
After a few days, Ellinor had to be admitted to the hospital and in connection with that another coronation test was performed.
Because Ellinor had a cough, the doctors finally did a third test.
– I hated the test. Not many children find it fun to stick a long stick up their nose.
Hans says the daughter was sleeping in the hospital bed and he himself was watching television when the nurse arrived with full protective gear and said the test came back positive for COVID-19.
– It was unreal and unpleasant. It is an erratic virus. For some it is a mild cold, for others it is death.
After 14 days of serious illness and seven days in the hospital, things improved and Ellinor and Father Hans were able to go to the cabin while the rest of the family isolated themselves at home in the house.

– Of course Ellinor would have preferred to be at home with her mother and her brothers. But she takes the cabin every day of the week in front of the hospital. When we left the hospital earlier, he told the doctor, “I will never set foot here again.”
Diagnosed with hyperinflammation after the third hospitalization
But just a few days after Aftonbladet spoke to Hans, Ellinor became very ill again and had to go to the hospital again. Doctors were able to establish that Ellinor had hyperinflammation as a result of COVID-19.
– It was so serious that it was not possible to wait but the doctors started treating her immediately afterwards.
Ellinor responded well to treatment and after another week she and Hans finally had to leave the hospital.
– Now the medication and cortisone treatment stay for a couple of weeks. But now he’s finally heading in the right direction and Ellinor has started eating right again.
“Take responsibility: everyone can be affected”
Hans Kentää now wants to urge everyone to take responsibility.
– Everyone can be affected. Suddenly, it is you or a loved one who becomes seriously ill and you may not be able to cope.
At the same time, you want people to remember that your daughter is an individual case. When it comes to closing preschools and schools, he thinks the experience should continue.
– I don’t want to create hysteria. We must listen to those who have knowledge.
