Ellie, 83, has been trapped in her car, lost between Örebro and Fellingsbro for almost a day. A large search operation has been launched to try to find the missing woman.
– His cell phone is dead. The last time we had contact with her was this morning and then she was tired and frozen after trying to escape during the night, says Lars Hedelin, the police spokesman in Örebro.
Elli, 83, had been on a case in Örebro on Thursday night. At 11 pm, a relative reported her missing. Somewhere along the way, Elli had gotten lost and got stuck with the car.
– Then there was no police case because there was no immediate danger of death and we had contact with her. It was simply lost, says Lars Hedelin, a press spokesman for the Örebro police.
At 09:00 on Friday, Elli herself called 112. Then she tried to free herself all night, without success, says Lars Hedelin.
The 83-year-old woman told police she could see fields and a hunting tower. Police believe he is somewhere between Fellingsbro and Örebro.
Shortly after the conversation, the police decided to search for the woman.
– I was tired and frozen. Your mobile has older copies and unfortunately it is not as easy as you think to track such a phone.

– The last contact with her was around 11 o’clock. Then he said the battery was bad and shortly after the contact was completely broken. We assume the phone died, says Lars Hedelin.
Since the police were unsuccessful in their first search, the so-called state rescue operation was launched, where access to larger search resources is gained. At 9:00 p.m. on Friday the defense was also called.
– If we could only lift a helicopter, it would have been for the best. But the fog that has been thick all day makes it impossible.

Instead, the police have dispatched drones with thermal cameras. So far it has not yielded any results and Elli is still missing.
– He already went out one night, it’s cold. She just came out on a case and I’m afraid she doesn’t have a direct survival kit with her. So we want to find her as soon as possible, says Lars Hedelin in the police.
Elli was traveling in a burgundy Toyota Corolla. The police want to contact you who saw the car during the night or on Friday or have other information.
Police are also asking hunters with hunting towers in the area around Fellingsbro to check the immediate area around the towers.
