The plans have awakened great attention and, to the great surprise of the club, generated in a worldwide interest.
– It has become obvious that the exaggeration around this is very large. It is not every day that FC Midtjylland is in the morning news in Australia, the United States and China and makes statements in some of the world’s largest media, says Claus Steinlein.
The idea of drive-in soccer is that up to 10,000 spectators will be able to follow the club’s games on a big screen from 2,000 cars in the parking lot.
It is a hallmark For Central Jutland, Steinlein points out, think outside the box.
– This is the story of what FC Midtjylland is. We see opportunities, even in times of crisis. That’s the club’s DNA, he says, and continues:
– I think the world is hungry for news and something to talk about besides crown.
Remains to be seen how many clubs will they take after concept once leagues are resumed with no audience. Ajax sports manager, former goalkeeper goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, has stated in the Dutch media that the club is considering copying the idea, according to Danish news agency Ritzau.
FC Midtjylland leads the Danish Superligan by a full 12-point margin to FC Copenhagen.
