The Presidential Debate Commission, CDP, now announces that the debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump will be suspended on October 15. In a statement, the commission writes that both campaigns have announced that they have other plans that day, Reuters writes.
“It is now clear that there will be no debate on October 15 and the CDP will concentrate on preparations for the last presidential debate scheduled for October 22,” the commission said.
After Trump was diagnosed with COVID-19, the commission wanted to hold the debate digitally out of concern about the infection, but the president rejected the idea and declined to participate. Then Biden registered for a voter meeting in Philadelphia, the New York Times reports.
Last week announced White House that the president had tested positive for the coronavirus. He was taken to Walter Reed Military Hospital for treatment, but left the care facility on Sunday.
Meanwhile, speculation about the president’s health has been hot. There have been mixed messages about when he got infected and how sick he really was.
Now the president will be on the Tucker Carlson Tonight talk show and will be examined by doctor Marc Siegel on television, reports Fox News, which broadcasts the show.
Trump’s doctor, Sean Conley, sent a memo earlier Friday in which he wrote that Trump will be able to return to public office this weekend and that he has finished treatment for the disease.
“Saturday is the 10th day since Thursday’s diagnosis, and based on the advanced diagnoses the team has made, I hope the president can now safely return to public office,” writes Sean Conley.
The states of the White House that Trump on Saturday will speak to the crowd from a balcony in the building. According to a knowledgeable source, there may be hundreds of listeners; all are expected to wear protective masks, writes Reuters.
Trump previously planned to hold an election rally in Florida on Saturday, but now The Hill claims he was ahead of Monday. It is the first electoral meeting after the illness.
But the White House has yet to announce whether Trump is still contagious or when he tested negative for the virus.
Trump tells Fox News that he will likely be tested for the virus on Friday.
