Donald Trump shows what a lousy loser he is

No, it is not over yet. But at any moment, Joe Biden will likely take the lead in Georgia. That alone can be enough.

Several US media companies believe that Joe Biden won in Arizona, and in that case, a victory in Georgia would give him 280 voters. Other companies, including CNN, are still giving Trump a chance in Arizona.

But after Georgia probably comes Pennsylvania. If Biden takes the lead even there, it’s a curtain. And yes, Biden leads in Arizona and Nevada.

Still, wait a while before you make up your mind. It depends on the margin of victory. Even in Georgia, it can be so small that even military votes, American soldiers abroad, and their family members should be expected.

So no, there is still no reason for Donald Trump to give up. It may be a matter of recalculation. His campaign has already gone to court in several cases.

But let’s also remember this. During these four years, President Donald Trump has loved talking about his fantastic and historic victory in the 2016 election.

But the margin of victory was not great on that occasion either. 11,000 votes in Wisconsin, 27,000 in Michigan, 45,000 in Pennsylvania.

This time there may be similar numbers. But in the other direction. But Donald Trump shows no signs of accepting it.

– If you count the legal votes, I win easily. If illegal votes are counted, they can try to steal the election, he said last night at a White House performance.

That is false. A deeply irresponsible and potentially dangerous statement by a sitting US president awaiting the outcome of the election. And no, of course he did not present any evidence.

Trumps has been constantly verified as president and has repeatedly been plagued by inaccuracies, exaggerations and, yes, lies.

The fact-checking of his statements by the Washington Post last night was no exception. But now the stakes are much higher, false claims are much more dangerous.

Of course, there may have been mistakes, but then you go to court and have the matter tried. That is also what the Trump campaign has done. In one case in Georgia, it involved votes that were allegedly submitted too late. The court considered differently.

So again, there is no reason for Donald Trump to admit defeat, but that moment is drawing near. And it is important to the nation that he can deliver that speech.

Thus ends the American elections. The loser admits defeat. The United States is a polarized country, but it has been for many years and it has not stopped past losers from accepting the loss in good faith.

– This is painful and will be for so long … Donald Trump will be our president. “We owe him an open mind and the ability to lead,” Hillary Clinton said in 2016.

– I have strong objections to the court’s decision, but I accept it. Tonight, for the sake of our unity and democracy, I renounce my claims, Al Gore said in 2000 after the HD gave George W. Bush the victory.

“We fought the battle in good faith and I believe that I have maintained the reputation of the presidency,” George HW Bush said after the 1992 defeat.

Bush was the last incumbent president who could not be reelected. This is how you leave the White House against your will.
