Donald Trump held his first major mass rally after the presidential election when he campaigned for senator in Georgia.

Before calling the Republican candidates to the stage, he seemed strangely unenthusiastic about being there.

– I don’t like doing this for others, he said.

Georgia’s January 5 reelection applies to two Senate seats. Republicans must win at least one of the races to maintain control of the main houses of Congress.

Donald Trump arrived at Valdosta airport on Air Force One with his wife Melania. He took the stage to give tailwinds to the two Republican candidates David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

But Trump spoke primarily about himself and his efforts as president, continuing to claim that he actually won the presidential election.

– These wavemaster states that we are discussing. I won them all big time. If he had lost, he would have been a very polite loser. I said I lost and went to Florida.

“I don’t like doing this for others”

During his four years as president, Trump has held countless campaign rallies, most notably during the October election campaign. From the Valdosta rostrum, however, he said, in what appeared to be a half-joking, half-serious statement, that he would rather fulfill his presidential duties than hold an election meeting for his fellow party members.

– I don’t like doing this for others. David and Kelly called and said, “Can you have an election rally?” I said, “Not right away.” I said when they asked me not to do it for other people. That means a lot of work.

Later in the speech, a video was shown from the stage depicting democratic opponents in re-election as left-wing extremists. After the movie, Trump joked about whether it was worth producing.

– You shouldn’t do this for them. It costs too much money.

Trump called the Republican candidates to the stage.

In harsh words, he painted the Democratic candidates as communists.

– You will decide if your children grow up in a socialist country or in a free country. Socialism is just the beginning for them.

At the end of the nearly two-hour performance, Trump called David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler on stage. Each was given one minute before the president took the microphone again and urged the audience to vote:

– Let Georgia get robbed again and you will never recognize yourself in the mirror again.

Fight with the governor

Beforehand, top Republicans were concerned that Trump would continue to make allegations of voter fraud and thereby cause his most loyal supporters to ignore re-election.

There were also fears that he would launch further attacks on the Republican Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp. Even at that point, Trump delivered in line with the fears.

Hours before the speech, Donald Trump had called Kemp and tried to get him to convene the local congress to name voters who would not vote for Joe Biden as the state winner in the presidential election, multiple media outlets report.

However, Kemp refused and was the target of continued attacks from Trump both on Twitter and later from the airport’s grandstand.
