The Luleå winning machine against a Djurgården who mixed and matched during the start of the season. These were the conditions for Thursday’s clash in court.
But initially it seemed that the clubs switched roles, as the home team interrupted the northern series giants during the first period and took the lead through Alexander Holtz after Nils Lundkvist was responsible for a weak play.
Luleå would answer, twice.
First Petter Emanuelsson scored 1-1 after a beautiful attack and shortly after Isac Brännström left alone on the first goal.
Djurgården defeated Luleå in SHL
An even midfield would score another goal and it was the home team that managed to cheer, just a minute after Brännström’s area, when Niclas Bergfors carefully pushed for 2-2 against David Rautio in Luleåkassen.
The teams followed each other in the third half, they exchanged scoring chances with each other and if it weren’t for the interventions of the goalkeeper of Rautio and Niklas Svedberg, as well as for the help from the goal frame, the match could well have been decided at 60 minutes.
But overtime was required and there young William Eklund would become a party hero. He coldly put the 3-2 between the legs of David Rautio.
This means that Luleå was defeated for the first time this season. Djurgården moved up to 10th after the victory at Hovet.
Djurgården’s backhand
However, there was smolk in the victory cup for Djurgården. Tom Nilsson was forced to resign due to injury and it may be some time before he returns to play for SHL.
– He sprained his knee or foot and unfortunately goes away for a long time, says Djurgård coach Robert Ohlsson.
