Seeded Novak Djokovic passed his first real test in the French championship when he defeated Russia’s Karen Chatjanov in three straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.

But it was with her heart in her throat that the tennis star advanced to the quarterfinals.

Djokovic strongly objected, but the most intimidating he received when he accidentally hit a linesman with a ball to the head in the first set.

– My God, it was a nasty deja vu. I’ve tried to get the linesman to hear if he’s okay, because I saw that he had a redness where he hit the ball. Hope it’s okay, said Djokovic.

Djokovic was banned from the US Open just a few weeks ago when, in anger, after missing a point, he hit a ball that hit a linesman’s neck. Then as now, it was a fourth round match.

– Of course, this will be something considering what happened in New York. But this kind of thing has happened to me and a lot of other players in the 15 years I’ve been on the road. I’ve seen it many times when the ball hits the frame and is controlled by a spectator or referee, said Djokovic.

The 33-year-old Serbian achieved his fourth consecutive 3-0 victory in Paris, where he is chasing his second title.

– It was a close match and I am happy to have managed to win in three games in a row, said the world point guard who now reached his eleventh consecutive quarter-final in Paris and the 47th Grand Slam context.
