Diego Maradona has suffered from depression.
Three days into his 60th birthday, the soccer legend has been hospitalized.
– He has been very depressed for a week, he has not wanted to eat, a hospital employee tells AP.

After being admitted to Hospital La Plata in the south of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Diego Maradona requested anonymity because he did not want to comment.
According to a hospital employee, it was his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque who took him to the hospital to undergo health checks.
He left during the game
Maradona turned 60 last Friday and in the afternoon the Gymnastics coach appeared on the bench in the victory at home against the Patronato 3-0.
He left the arena even before the halftime break, prompting speculation about his health.
Leopoldo Luque denied that Maradona had suffered from covid-19, Maradona has been isolated at home for a few days after a person he works with showed symptoms of the disease.
– I did not have enough energy, the birthday was a reason that complicated the situation. My thought is that you should drink enough fluids for three days, see how you recover, and adjust your medication. It is not an emergency at all, says Leopoldo Luque.
Foot space
Maradona has lived in the coastal town of La Plata since taking over as coach of local club Gimnasia in the Argentine First Division late last year.
The soccer legend has his own standing room in the hospital and can, according to Leopoldo Luque, choose to come and go as he pleases.
