He won the league with Napoli

The 60-year-old legend won the World Cup with Argentina in 1986 and was named the tournament’s best player. In total, there were 91 international matches and 34 goals.

During his active career, he represented clubs such as Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Napoli. With the latter club, he became an icon in Naples when he won the league title.

In 1986, Diego Armando Maradona became known by the phrase “the hand of God” in connection with the quarterfinals of the World Cup against England. Maradona used his hand to control the ball in the goal in connection with a header duel with England goalkeeper Peter Shilton. The goal was approved and meant 1-0 for Argentina. After the match, the Argentine was asked about the goal and then chose to qualify it as “the hand of God.”

Positive doping test

The 60-year-old man was recently operated on for a blood clot in his brain and was later discharged. Then he decided to go home to the city of Tigre.

At the 1990 World Cup, Argentina reached the World Cup final again, but once there, they lost to West Germany 1-0. Maradona made his last soccer world championship in 1994 but the tournament was reflected in a great scandal.

The Argentine was not allowed to continue playing due to a positive doping test. During the last years of his career, Maradona was accused of collaborating with the Italian mafia.

Diego Armando Maradona is described as a fantastic soccer player and creator. But next to the lawn, his life was marked by drug problems and massive scandals.

During the 2018 World Cup, he made an inappropriate gesture in connection with Argentina’s 2-1 victory over Nigeria. Television footage caught him before he collapsed in the stands and sought help.
