Big crowds in Gothenburg

In Västra Götaland, the police have also been full of alarms about the rocket fire.

– We had a lot to do between midnight and a quarter to one. It’s been a lot about fireworks and fires and some troubles, says Morten Gunneng, a duty officer in the West Police Region.

In Lidköping, young people fired rockets at a police car on one occasion.

– There was an incident at 12:22, where we have a blue light sabotage suspect. Some young people fired rockets at one of our cars. The suspect is a young man.

Were there any other events that stood out?

– We received an alarm about a knife cut around 10:30 pm in Mölndal. Then a guy had been stabbed in the back without any proof. They took him by ambulance to Sahlgrenska. We have launched a preliminary investigation into an extremely serious assault. Nobody is arrested.

According to Morten Gunneng, the plaintiff’s injury status is unclear, but he was awake and speaking when police arrived on the scene.

For the rest, Gunneng describes that the police were “a little put to bed” when large crowds gathered in Masthuggskyrkan and Götaplatsen at twelve o’clock.

– It was estimated that there were 500 people in Masthuggskyrkan. Then there may have been 3,000 people gathered at Götaplatsen. But a spontaneous meeting is not covered by any legislation. We have acted against the crown’s recommendations, but we cannot intervene.

However, according to Morten Gunneng, the crowd dispersed shortly after noon.

Unusually quiet new year in the north

In the Västernorrland region and the northern region, it has been a somewhat quieter New Year’s night, according to RLC commander Henrik Fahlén.

Henrik Fahlén says there have been alarms about a single youth party where people have reacted to the fact that there have been too many participants, but that otherwise there have been no incidents that are risky from an infection control point of view.
