Despite good profitability: Scanian farmers are reluctant to invest in new businesses

Farmers in southern Sweden continue to be more positive about their profitability compared to farmers in the rest of the country. Despite this, farmers’ willingness to invest money in new businesses is declining, this year’s edition of the Agricultural Barometer shows. The lower willingness to invest is based on the uncertainty about, among other things, the corona pandemic.

In a time of global uncertainty, Swedish agriculture has been generally stable. Almost half of the farmers in the survey experience a fairly or very good return on their business, and many believe in a fairly or very good return in one year. This is demonstrated by this year’s edition of the Agricultural Barometer, which takes into account farmers’ perceptions of the current situation in agriculture.
