Friday announced the Danish Public Health Agency that significantly more than previously thought have been infected by the mutated virus. In total, mink infection has been found in 214 people. 14 of them outside of North Jutland.
Will map the infection
Now they will mass test 250,000 inhabitants in North Jutland. Each positive test result will be analyzed to determine the type of corona infection. Four test centers will open and the actual tests will start tomorrow Saturday.
– You can count on a response time of two to three days, says Jan Nybo, head of covid-19 testing in the North Jutland region, during a press conference.
17 million animals die
The authorities have also decided that all minks in Denmark will be killed. This involves some 17 million animals and the work begins in North Jutland, where most of the farms are located. Businesses will receive DKK 20 per mink, if it is killed within ten days.
For safety reasons, dead minks will be burned. Flemming Kure Marker from the Danish Food and Veterinary Administration, which is the authority responsible for the slaughter, emphasizes that live minks are more dangerous from an infection point of view than dead animals.
