Denmark will reduce border controls against Sweden from Thursday. Random periodic checks will replace regular checks, according to a Danish police press release.
The decision will facilitate entry and shorten the waiting time for those traveling through the strait. According to Sydsvenskan, the Danish police will take into account the frequency of traffic and controls can concentrate on rush hour traffic periods.
Denmark closed its borders during the escalation of the corona pandemic, but has gradually opened up to Swedes over the summer. It is now free for Swedes of all counties to travel to the country.
At airports, random checks will be carried out on travelers from countries within the Schengen area. For countries in quarantine, permanent controls will be maintained.
Fixed border controls against Germany will also be relaxed.
