Democrats win both Georgia Senate elections

In the Georgia Senate elections, Democrat Raphael Warnock beat incumbent Republican Kelly Loeffler in one election and Jon Ossoff beat Republican David Perdue in the other.

In the election between Warnock and Loeffler, the former was declared the winner on Wednesday morning Swedish time, while some time passed in the evening before Edison Research, among others, assessed that Ossoff had won.

A victory for Democrats in both elections means that the House distribution will be 50-50, but incoming Vice President Kamala Harris gives Democrats a narrow majority.

Events in Congress mean that he hasn’t had time to officially recognize Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election. As expected, Arizona voters in both houses opposed the election result, but it was finally approved after a delay on Thursday morning Swedish time.

After the fact, some Republicans have drifted away from their earlier statements about opposition to the electorate, how many will remain to be seen.

Votes are also being collected to impeach Donald Trump by January 20 with the help of Amendment 25. Under Amendment 25, the Vice President will take over from the President if he becomes unable to perform the duties.
