The Armed Forces will grow in various parts of the country. It is estimated that between 550 and 850 jobs can be created there.

On Tuesday, the Riksdag will make the defense decision for 2021-2025. The decision means the largest rearmament in many decades.
But investments in defense are also important for the seven places where the Armed Forces will grow. The Ministry of Defense has made an estimate that ends in a total of between 550 and 850 new jobs.
Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist (S) emphasizes that this is only an assessment and that the Armed Forces have not finished with their planning. So you want to be careful and stick to the fact that there may be “at least” 550 jobs.
– Of course these are big and important additions that mean a lot. It is also an advantage for a place to be able to say that you are a regimental city, says Hultqvist.
Kristinehamn, Falun, and Sollefteå can aspire to most jobs.
At Kristinehamn, a new artillery regiment, A 9, will be built with an associated firing range at Villingsberg. It is estimated that a regiment with 2-3 training companies requires 75-120 military positions. The need for civilian personnel is estimated at 50 to 80 positions. A total of 125-200 positions in Kristinehamn.
The same evaluation is made for Falun, where the 13th Infantry Regiment will be built with one regiment command and training for two companies.
It is also estimated that the re-establishment of the I 21 regiment in Sollefteå will provide between 125 and 200 jobs, of which 75 to 120 are military positions.
Connected to I 21 in Sollefteå, an education detachment will be established in Östersund. There you will train a shooting company per year. An estimated 25 to 50 military posts and 15 to 25 civilian posts are needed. In other words, a total of 40 to 75 jobs.
However, it is not certain that everything is about new incorporations, since it depends on how the reorganization of the Armed Forces is.
On the other hand, the effect of work in localities may be greater if, for example, construction workers and service personnel are included.
– Has effects on other business lives for staff both to live and buy food and to live in these places. I think it has a positive effect, says Hultqvist.
The Falun, Sollefteå / Östersund and Kristinehamn regiments will start during the 2021-2025 period, but will not be fully developed until 2026-2030.
In Arvidsjaur, hunter-gatherers are already being trained, but that activity will evolve into a regiment, K 4. The need for military personnel is estimated to increase by 20-30 posts and 15-20 civilians. A total of 35 to 50 new jobs.
K4 should be fully developed by 2025
The choice of places for the regiment has been made for reasons of regional policy and military strategy.
Hultqvist sees another advantage in that the Armed Forces will now be located in more locations.
– The popular support of the Armed Forces in the country improves, he says.
In the larger cities of Gothenburg and Uppsala, the growth of the Armed Forces will not feel the same way.
Uppsala will recover its F 16 air fleet, but there the Armed Forces are already well established with mainly the Air Combat School, LSS. It is estimated that a dozen military and civilian posts need to be filled.
The Armed Forces are also well established in Gothenburg. The amphibious regiment structure, Amf 4, with regiment command and personnel to train an amphibious battalion, is estimated to require between 75 and 100 new military positions and between 20 and 30 civilians. A total of 95-130 new jobs.
The growth of the Armed Forces in Uppsala and Gothenburg should be completed by 2025.
The Riksdag debates the defense’s decision today and makes a decision on Tuesday.
