On June 5, Ethiopians go to the polls. Clashes in the country have increased since Prime Minister Abyi Ahmed received the Nobel Peace Prize.

The parliamentary elections in Ethiopia will be held on June 5 next year, announces the electoral authority in Addis Ababa.

The election was supposed to take place in August this year, but was postponed due to the crown pandemic.

Ethiopia, with a population of over 112 million, has a federal state with ten regions that in turn have certain taxes, security forces and certain legislation. The president of the victorious party becomes prime minister.

The current head of government is Abiy Ahmed, who took office in 2018 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his steps towards democratization. His government appears to be less and less peaceful, with various conflicts throughout the country. The most difficult is Tigray, where thousands of people have died since violence broke out in November.
