Khabib Nurmagomedov won the lightweight title fight in the UFC against Justin Gaethje.

According to UFC boss Dana White, he did it with a broken foot, something he kept a secret.

– We should be happy to see him fight tonight, says White according to BT Sport.

A minute and a half after the second round, Justin Gaethje applauded and Khabib Nurmagomedov won his 29th and final match of his career.

But three weeks ago, the Russian broke his leg on his foot. Something that Nurmagomedov didn’t tell, not even to Dana White.

– He’s been through a lot and we should be happy to have seen him fight tonight. I’ve heard rumors that you will probably hear more about this later. He was apparently in the hospital with a broken foot three weeks ago. He has two broken toes and a broken leg in the foot or something. That’s what his corner of the ring told me, White said in a press conference afterward and continues:

– He’s one of the toughest people on the planet and we really have to give him GOAT status.

Tribute: “The best of all”

After the fight, a tearful Nurmagomedov announced that he would resign. And the tributes have reached the Russian who earlier this year also lost his father in the covid-19 suites.

Congratulations to the greatest champion in UFC history. What career. We will always be grateful for the time we spend with you my brother, writes UFC legend Daniel Cormier in Twitter.

“Your dad is proud”

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo:

“Congratulations brother. Your dad is proud of you,” he writes on Instagram.

Jon Jones, one of the UFC’s biggest stars, also praised Khabib.

“I would like to congratulate Khabib on his outstanding career. I know he made his father and millions of fans around the world extremely proud. May God continue to bless him on the journey,” writes Jones. Twitter.
