According to Expressen sources, Dan Eliasson flew to Las Palmas on December 19. The Director General now confirms that he has visited the Canary Islands for Christmas. Eliasson says he booked the trip 10-14 days before departure.

– I have made the assessment that the trip is necessary. I have a daughter who lives and works here. And I celebrated Christmas with her and my family.

He also says that he has been free during the Christmas holidays and has worked a lot remotely.

On the question of travel it was really necessary, Eliasson tells Expressen:

– As I said, I have celebrated Christmas with my family. My daughter stays here and works, and I wanted to celebrate Christmas with the family.

Eliasson claims that he has given up a lot of travel during the pandemic, but that he thought it was necessary. He says he needed to be with his family over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

When asked if his stocks risk sending double signals, he answers:

– I take it very seriously. This is also one of the safest places in Europe. And I need to be with my family during the Christmas and New Years holidays.

Early november Dan Eliasson told Dagens Nyheter that Sweden was exposed to the virus in a completely different way than Norway, because we had a different travel pattern.

– I think that all the countries were surprised by the magnitude and the consequences and I don’t see any country that can point out otherwise. We had a completely different travel pattern than, say, Norway, and we were exposed to the infection in a completely different way.

The other day, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven spoke about his criticized Christmas business. Löfven said he bought food, repaired a watch, found spare parts for his razor, visited Systembolaget, and bought a Christmas present for his wife Ulla.

“I understand that people have reacted when they read that I ran errands in December,” he wrote on Instagram.

On weekdays, SVT Nyheter Skåne revealed that the Minister of Migration and Justice, Morgan Johansson, had been attacked in a shopping center in Skåne, which the Prime Minister called “careless”.
