He doesn’t want for Piteå.
Växjö won the essential match and thus pushed Piteå into the relegation zone.
– It’s been a pressured situation for many weeks, but it’s not over yet, says Piteå coach Stellan Carlsson.
Before the damallsvenska match on Sunday, there was a difference between the teams.
When Växjö’s Nigerian national team forward Ini-Abasi Umotong, 26, turned around and went 1-0 (in the 12th minute of the game) after a difficult situation, then Växjö was on safe ground in the table.
The most difficult situation then was for preseason champion Piteå.
Nightmare week
– They play well the first 10-15 minutes at the same time that we have not really grown. Then there will be a lot of fighting and they want to make amends as much as they can. It will be difficult to get enough quality to create dangerous chances, says Piteå coach Stellan Carlsson.
Piteå, who won the first Swedish championship title in the club’s history in 2018, fought desperately for the draw for the remainder of the match. But instead, the team picked up another defeat.
Norrbotten now has only one win in their last 13 matches at the damallsvenskan, and after Sunday’s loss, the crisis is now total. With four games to play, the team has fallen to a relegation spot.
“No one can blame”
– This is how it has been for us throughout the year, it has cost us a lot to win football matches. We have to work very hard to score points and win games, he says.
Earlier this week, it was also clear that there will be no group stage match at the 2021 Swedish Cup. Piteå led 2-0 against the elite team Morön in the decisive qualifying match, but lost 3-4.
– The work effort and attitude of the girls is very good. No one can blame him. It’s been a pressured situation for many weeks, but it’s not over yet, says Stellan Carlsson.
