A powerful house fire on the outskirts of Nässjö on Monday night cost the life of an elderly woman, according to what police suspect after finding remains.

The same woman alerted 112 earlier the same day and claimed that four people were “fucking” and harassing her, according to information from Aftonbladet. Among other things, they broke windows.

– It’s listed as harassment and we talked to the woman. We are looking at whether the events are possibly connected, said Björn Öberg, a police press spokesman, last week.

Before the fire broke out in the evening, several people, suspected to be the same people from the afternoon, must have been seen in the woman’s direction, according to information from Aftonbladet.

The witnesses must also have told police that at least one of them went or entered the villa before the fire started, according to Aftonbladet sources. So they must have been seen running from there.

After an investigation, the police were able to bring in several people for questioning. Late on Tuesday night last week, three youths were arrested on suspicion of murder and aggravated arson. A quarter under the age of 15 is also suspected of the crimes, but could not be detained due to his young age.

Now new information is emerging.

Sources tell Aftonbladet that suspicions were directed at two of the people after an alarm from a parent.

One of the suspects must have come home and started recounting information related to the fatal fire. Among other things, he must have talked about the lighter.

– This prompted the father to call the police, a source tells Aftonbladet.

The police conducted several interrogations of the youths.

On Wednesday night, after a day in custody, the prosecutor decided to release two of the three detainees.

However, people remain suspicious in the investigation.

The third suspect was arrested Friday on probable cause, the highest degree of suspicion, murder and aggravated arson.

Before the arrest hearing, courtroom prosecutor Heléne Thomasson, who is leading the preliminary investigation, explained why she did not want him to be a fugitive:

– I request that he be detained so that he cannot influence the investigation.

According to documents from the Eksjö District Court, he denies the crime.
