Just over a year ago, we met Ludwig Göransson’s father, Tomas, at the childhood home and he showed us the guitars that Ludwig learned to play. See more in the video above.
By then, Ludwig had won an Oscar for the score for the movie Black Panther. Last night he won an Emmy for the original music for the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian.”
– I got up at five this morning and saw that I had won so I called and congratulated. He was very happy, of course, but I hadn’t seen him that closely because he’s in the middle of filming “The Mandalorian 2.” He found out from a friend who called him and told him about it, says Tomas Göransson.
“It could be a cake and champagne”
When we visited the children’s home a year ago, the parents were celebrating with a roll.
– Now it may well be a cake. And champagne. We have a bottle here.
There are many memories that arise on an occasion like this, says Tomas Gustavsson.
“A strong moment”
– It was at the age of 9 that it turned on. He was then a music teacher at the municipal music school and practiced the Metallica song “Enter Sandman” at home, so he could play with a student. Ludwig heard me rehearse that tough song and it lit up. That moment was so strong.
