The debate over gang violence flared up again when a 12-year-old girl was shot and killed in Botkyrka in early August.
At the same time, several shootings, which could be related to rival gangs, took place in Hisingen in Gothenburg.
In a DN debate article, Swedish Customs Director General Charlotte Svensson describes several shortcomings in the legislation, which complicate the work to act against organized crime.
“Could be more efficient”
While criminals constantly develop new forms of communication and smuggling, the legislation does not adhere to:

Charlotte Svensson mentions, among other things, the problem of not being able to help the police with coercive measures during the house search, and of not being able to take the appropriate measures when travelers are traveling with large amounts of cash.
It also expresses concern about the increasing number of robberies and young criminals.
