Sweden has suffered 6,022 corona deaths and more than 146,000 confirmed cases.
In early fall, Anders Tegnell warned that the infection could increase in clusters in different places or workplaces, but not necessarily across the country.
Anders Tegnell has taken a new turn.
“Another development”
– It has been a different development than we think. Advances in other European countries have been geared towards a much wider and more widespread spread of the infection than had been seen in the spring. Sweden is now following that pattern. Probably the whole country will be affected, more or less, he tells DN.
Explain that the infection at this point does not seem to be going in the right direction.
– If we observe the spread of the infection, it is difficult to say that something is going in the right direction. But there are many flashes of light. I heard an interview with a nursing home in Skåne where they quickly found the infection on staff and managed to prevent it from reaching residents. We had a much harder time doing that this spring. That you take on such responsibility, that is what gives hope, Anders Tegnell tells DN.
“Disturbing signal”
Anders Tegnell also explains that his biggest concern at the moment is that the Swedish people and medical care will not be able to keep up.
– It is true that the capacity has increased a lot since last spring, but what is a bit concerning at the moment is that you do not have time to test everyone who wants to be tested. That is a worrying sign. Being able to test is essential, Anders Tegnell tells DN.
