More and more studies show that few people are responsible for a large part of the spread of infection, writes TT.
As early as April, a study showed that only 10 percent of all corona patients accounted for 80 percent of the spread of the infection.
That type of person has been called a super spreader. If a super spreader infects many in one place, it is called a super spreader event.
“Not so much in Sweden”
Stopping super-spreaders is easier said than done, but easier to prevent when infection occurs.
– We haven’t seen it much in Sweden. We are collecting (data from) outbreaks and the vast majority include quite a few people. So we don’t have real “super-propagation events” so far in any case, but it’s an important aspect to watch, state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell tells TT.
However, some meetings are suspected of having over-broadcast events.
– We had something unique. The eruption in Gällivare seems to have been something like that and there were some trips outside of Gothenburg. But it seems like we haven’t had any of these really great ones, Anders Tegnell tells TT.
“Infection monitoring is very important”
Explain what complicates and affects infection monitoring.
– This makes infection tracking very important, especially if you are backtracking and trying to understand where you have been infected somewhere, so that you can quickly compile if it looks like there were multiple people who may have been infected, so may warn them, Anders Tegnell tells TT.
Today, there are many explanations for why a person becomes a super spreader, but the Public Health Agency urges everyone to stay home if they experience the slightest symptoms of the disease.
