Jimmie Åkesson (SD) and Per Bolund (MP) dueled over climate policy during the party leader debate on Sunday. The SD leader believes that the government’s multi-billion dollar investments have no impact in a global context.
– Claiming that the tax on plastic bags and bike paths play a role is deeply dishonest and ignorant, says Åkesson.
Per Bolund claims that SD wants to stop all climate policy without coming up with its own proposals.
– SD does not want to listen to children’s concerns about our future. Jimmie Åkesson, time to grow up now and see that we are in a climate crisis, says MP spokesperson.
Criticism of statements about electric cars
When the other party leaders were allowed to participate in the debate, Ebba Busch (KD) claimed that many could not afford an electric car because it cost “a million and more.” The statement received strong reactions on social media.
Mattias Goldmann, Sweco’s chief sustainability officer and former representative of the Green Motorists association, writes that the statement “is wrong with at least 300 percent”:
“New electric car from around SEK 300,000, used from half or cheap lease. And a clearly lower monthly cost than the fossil car. “
“Electric cars do NOT cost a million and more! Check the car ads: with a 60,000 bonus (70,000 from next year), there are cars in less than half, and in three years it will be cheaper than a fossil car. “, writes the Minister of Environment and Climate Isabella Lövin (MP).
Energy Minister Anders Ygeman (S) refers to a study showing that in the long term it is cheaper to own an electric car:
“Electrification will go faster than most people think, some party leaders need to update their knowledge on vehicle costs, car customers have already done so”.
