Corroded Kian at Tvååker – preliminary investigation closed

Almost exactly a year ago, Kian Åström and his eleven-year-old friend were playing on the playground of the Bosgårdsskolan school in Tvååker, outside Varberg.

In the schoolyard, they found a pet bottle that they opened.

The bottle contained corrosive fluid that Kian put on his fingers and face, and analyzes have later shown that it was caustic soda.

In a panic, both boys ran home.

– Immediately we begin to wash and rinse the liquid. Kian was very scared because he was burning. And I was hysterical myself. When it comes to your own children, you are not that hard. You have the right lever, said Magdalena Åström.

Prosecutor: no evidence

Magdalena police reported the incident. Prosecutor Pernilla Johansson says four underage children were suspected, but now she has closed the preliminary investigation. This is something that Halland News has previously written about.

– We have heard from suspects and witnesses, but there was no DNA or fingerprints on the bottles. There was no technical evidence. I can’t prove who threw the bottle, says Pernilla Johansson.

Magdalena Åström says that two of the children had been home with her and Kian and they apologized.

Isn’t that enough evidence?

– There are details and some that were even said to have been involved. But if they just dumped these bottles, I couldn’t prove it, says the prosecutor.

It has marks on the faces.

Magdalena Åström is disappointed with the prosecutor’s decision to close the preliminary investigation.

– It was a shock. Partly because they had suspects, but also when two of them were at our house and apologized. In fact, I think it’s a little bad for the prosecutor, says Magdalena.

Kian today has bright marks on his face, the so-called pigment spots. Magdalena has also reported the damage to the insurance company.

– He’s seven years old and doesn’t care that much right now. He doesn’t think much about the look. But how will he react when he comes of age and thinks it is difficult? Says the mother.
