Sweden may have passed the peak of the center of the crown.
In the past few days, the number of recently confirmed cases of illness has decreased considerably.
– If the numbers are correct, something has happened, says state epidemiologist deputy Anders Wallensten.
The Tuesday before Easter, 739 new cases of the viral disease covid-19 were found in Sweden. It is the highest daily appointment so far.
After the weekend, the Public Health Authority feared that figure would be exceeded. But that has not happened.
Yesterday it was reported that 440 people became ill. On Wednesday afternoon, state epidemiologist deputy Anders Wallensten announced that 482 cases had been reported on the last day.
– It looks like we have a lasting decline. I am cautiously positive, Wallensten said from the podium.

The low curve: “It’s a shine”
After the press conference, Anders Wallensten developed his reasoning in an interview with Aftonbladet.
– If the situation had continued to develop in the same way as before the Easter weekend, it would have been possible for us to have risen to similar or higher figures.
– We don’t see that now. I’m a little cautious, as there can always be reporting errors, but we’re not back to the level we were before the weekend. It is an illumination.
What conclusions do you draw about what could be behind this development?
– First of all we must confirm that the change is lasting, then we must carefully analyze it. But it may be a sign that the measures we have taken and the restrictions that have been put in place have been effective.
“The ambition is to lift the restrictions as soon as possible”
According to Anders Wallensten, the figures that appear at the end of the week are crucial for evaluating the infection situation in Sweden.
– The next few days are very interesting. If development continues, we are at a new level, and that is very welcome.

In addition to the number of new cases, it is important to have an idea of what proportion of the population has developed immunity to covid-19.
– What you do then is the antibody test by several people, and then draw conclusions from it. Such tests are being planned on a larger scale.
– We are looking forward to starting as soon as possible. The degree of immunity is of great importance when lifting restrictions and such.
When may relief need to be implemented?
– Our ambition is to lift the restrictions as soon as possible. But it must be done responsibly and intelligently so that the spread of the infection doesn’t regain momentum, says Anders Wallensten.
– We constantly review all restrictions as the situation changes. We follow this very closely.
podcasts How strong can the coronavirus affect Swedish agriculture?
Swedish farmers can be seriously affected by the crown crisis when seasonal workers from abroad cannot get here. Unemployment increases in the avalanche in the country and the question is whether those who have been laid off should get jobs in agriculture. What is the worst case scenario we face? We will address this in this section of Aftonbladet Daily.
