The Swedish Public Health Agency, in consultation with infection control doctors and administrative boards of Kalmar, Norrbotten and Västerbotten counties, has decided on a stricter general council. The tip is valid for four weeks, until December 8.

Residents in the regions are now being urged to avoid physical contact with others outside their own home. You should also avoid indoor environments where congestion can occur, such as stores, malls, museums, and gyms. For residents of Norrbotten and Västerbotten counties, it is also important to refrain from unnecessary travel.

A total of 13 of the 21 in the country are already affected regions and the majority of the population are subject to stricter local crown restrictions. On Tuesday, the Blekinge region also issued its own recommendations, without interference from the Public Health Agency.

– We must act now, we cannot wait for the process led by the general councils. These rules apply for the rest of the month, but perhaps they can be overridden by advice from the Swedish Public Health Agency, remains to be seen, says infection control doctor Bengt Wittesjö at the region’s press conference.

At the press conference of the Public Health Agency Unit Chief Sara Byfors was asked about Blekinge’s actions.

– We don’t think it’s good or bad. We do not place any value on it. We have an ongoing dialogue with the Blekinge region and we have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday), says Sara Byfors.

– If you feel that it is so important to leave now, you have that opportunity. An advantage of doing it together is that there is clarity in what is applied.

It is being discussed in Värmland About the tight premises and in the region there is a frustration that the message is delayed.

– Now we are sitting and waiting for the Public Health Agency to give us local restrictions. But it seems to be surrounded by a great administration because it takes a long time, says Fredrik Larsson (M), chairman of the regional board in Värmland.

According to him, the dialogue between the region’s infection control and the authority began last week.

– The Swedish Public Health Agency does not consider it so serious, but we do. Somehow, then we review the attitude of authority and it feels very strange.

Tuesday decided Värmland region to rise in the staff position due to the increased spread of infection and the increasing burden on medical care.

– We must be prepared if this continues in the wrong direction, says Lena Gjevert, director of health and medical care in the region, in a press release.

Kronoberg region received a local tightening of general restrictions last week, but even there, regional board chairman Mikael Johansson (M) is not satisfied with the fact that the process was slow.

– FHM has been very clear that decisions are made after consulting with the regions, but was queuing, says Mikael Johansson.

– For me it will be strange, my interpretation is that we do not introduce general advice when it is necessary but when it adjusts to the calendar of FHM and the government.

In the Norrbotten region, infection control doctor Anders Nystedt called for stricter local advice last week, but the decision was not made until Tuesday.

– We wanted to follow the development for a few more days to see where it was going and have time to gather the region to achieve a good process, says Sara Byfors.

Sweden has during the fall has had a wide spread of the infection across much of the country “that we really didn’t expect this summer,” according to Sara Byfors. Despite this, the Swedish Public Health Agency insists that tightening local councils is better than tightening general councils at the national level.

– We believe that in this way we achieve a better local anchoring and compliance that is needed in that particular region based on its conditions. It also gives flexibility, says Sara Byfors.

Can it be relevant to recommend again a stop to travel outside your own region?

– Yes, it is definitely a measure that we are discussing. It is not the journey itself that we want to eat, but what you do at your destination. As long as you avoid new social contacts, travel is not something we advise against.
