Corona vaccination in Skåne starts now from Monday to Friday

On Thursday, it became clear that covid-19 vaccines will start in Skåne already on weekdays. That’s what Maria Landgren, Vaccine Coordinator in the Skåne Region says.

– What we know now is 425 doses, says Maria Landgren.

These doses are part of those delivered to Sweden in connection with vaccination in the EU as of December 27.

Great delivery in January

For adequate protection, two vaccinations are required at one-month intervals, says Maria Landgren. But for logistical reasons, the region has chosen to vaccinate 425 different people when the first shipment arrives. These people then receive their second vaccine when a delivery greater than 29,000 doses is expected in January.

The vaccine must be stored at minus 80 degrees. When the temperature has risen to a couple of degrees higher, the vaccine only lasts for five days.

– We will have a few days to use them, says Maria Landgren.

Nursing home residents and staff will receive the first doses. It has not yet been decided what accommodation or places in Skåne it will be.

– When we choose, we will choose where it will work purely logistically with a safe and effective vaccination, says Maria Landgren.
