Blekinge’s Idol contestant Niklas Hultberg, 31, takes the lead in tonight’s live stream from his hotel room as the entire final field is under quarantine after three contestants were found to be infected with the coronavirus.
Tonight’s Friday finale on “Idol” has a different design. Instead of gathering in the study, participants should leave their hotel rooms, where they feel isolated, TV4 announces.
The move comes after two more participants, Affe Hagström and Nadja Holm, became infected with the coronavirus. Earlier this week, Caspar Camitz fell ill.
“A different and historic evening awaits us, but as always in this program, the goal is the same, to continue living the dream of becoming a star,” says presenter Pär Lernström in a press release.
All participants are well under the circumstances, according to TV4.
“Our idols, jurors, presenters and the production must feel safe. That is why we decided to carry out the final on Friday this night in this way.”
At the same time, juror Nikki Amini criticizes TV4’s handling of the situation.
– There is someone who has made a mistake. I think this is awkward, the participants should have been quarantined and they should have been isolated, he says on the NRJ radio channel.
