New crown councils in Linköping, Blekinge and Gothenburg arrived on Friday.
– All reserved events are canceled and the municipal swimming pools and the art gallery in Linköping will be closed, says Niklas Borg (M) at the press conference.
However, strict advice is not relevant in Blekinge. However, it was announced that the audience ceiling will remain at 50 people.
Stockholm, Uppsala, Östergötland, Skåne, the Västra Götland region and now also Linköping are affected by new local restrictions.
At Friday’s press conference, it was announced that Linköping Municipality will shut down all activities that the Public Health Agency has identified as risk areas. This is what the president of the municipal council, Niklas Borg (M), says in a press conference.
This follows the strictest local councils in the Östergötland region, where the Linköping municipality is the hardest hit with the highest number of infection cases. In the last 24 hours, a new record number was reported, says City Council Chairman Niklas Borg (M).
– We are in a serious situation. We are making big changes and now we are closing all the activities that the Public Health Agency has indicated. It will be a real effort where everyone must make sacrifices, he says.
For the next three weeks, the municipal pools will be closed, the art gallery will be closed, and all reserved events will be canceled. All youth activities that are not linked to compulsory school will be closed. Linköping is also closing open activities in the social and welfare sector.
“It requires major changes in our behavior”
The spread of the infection has been established in the schools of the municipality, but there are currently no plans to close any schools. However, it may be relevant later.
– The strategy that Sweden has had is not working at the moment. I think it’s because you’re tired, you just don’t have the strength. We demand a lot now, it is big changes in our behavior that are required, says Berg, adding that he asks the people of Linköping to avoid restaurants and cafes.
– You can take it home to help our merchants survive. Do not use public transport if you can and try to refrain from visiting our healthcare activities.
Gothenburg closes ice rinks
The president of the Sports and Association Committee in Gothenburg, Elisabet Lann, KD, made the president’s decision on Friday to close various municipal activities until 19 November.
– We do this to reduce the spread of infection in society and to help Gothenburgers to follow the advice given by the Swedish Public Health Agency, Elisabet Lann says in a press release.
Gothenburg closes its municipal swimming pools and gymnasiums, as well as public ice skating. However, the activities of schools and associations are not affected.
Blekinge: 50-person public roofs remain
The audience limit of 50 people remains in Blekinge due to the further spread of the infection, Governor Sten Nordin announced at a press conference.
– We limit the number of participants in general meetings to prevent further spread of infection and protect medical care at Blekinge. We must do this in time. It is very sad that it is like this before All Saints Day. We understand that it will be difficult for culture and sports, but the government will provide various forms of support.
On November 1, the new audience ceiling would allow 300 people to sit, but that’s inappropriate at the moment in Blekinge, says infection control doctor Bengt Wittesjö.
– But the stricter advice in other regions to refrain from public transport, shopping malls, travel and socializing is not relevant to introduce in Blekinge today. So far, we don’t have a significant burden on healthcare, but that may change.
