The spread of the infection in Stockholm has been on a downward trend.
But now there are signs that the spread of the coronavirus is accelerating again.
– If it continues to rise, we will soon be in a serious situation again, says Björn Eriksson, director of health and medical care in the region.
At the press conference, Björn Eriksson showed bars on the curve of the number of infected in Stockholm.
– The downward trend that the proportion of infected is decreasing has been broken. We are climbing again. One can only hope that this is a notch in the curve, that we reduce the spread of infection again. It depends on how we follow the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency.

Public transport in Stockholm.
– It’s starting to get a little crowded on public transport, now you have to be careful. Try to choose other means of transportation, said Björn Eriksson.
“He despairs”
The director of health and medical care also spoke harsh words to those who do not follow the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency and believe that the corona pandemic is over:
– The pandemic is far from over. It is still happening. I despair very much for those who now behave as if it was all over. Even if you are not at risk of being affected, you contribute to an increased risk of spreading the infection which can affect other people who are much more sensitive.
A total of 2,403 people have died from COVID-19 in Stockholm County.
– It is a figure, but in each individual case it is a tragedy, said Björn Eriksson.
Attention restarts
He said at the press conference that he and representatives of the health sector summed up the pandemic with mixed feelings.
– We suffer with those affected by the disease. A disease that did not exist in our world eight months ago.
Although I, as a doctor, have seen many deaths, it is difficult to understand the pain and pain that comes from not being able to be with your loved one in such a situation. Even more they have been of concern to the elderly or people with underlying diseases affected by Covid-19.
Anna Starbrink (left), Regional Councilor for Health and Medical Care in Stockholm, also attended the press conference, saying that almost all the care that was canceled or moved during the pandemic in the Stockholm region has now been able to restart.
State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell cautions that local restrictions may become relevant in Stockholm.
To a question from Swedish radio, he answered the following:
– Yes, here we have a discussion with Stockholm about whether we need to introduce measures to reduce the spread of the infection. Exactly what it will be, we’ll be back in the next few days, responds Anders Tegnell, a state epidemiologist at the Public Health Agency.
