Four nursing homes in Uppsala (Bernadotte in Valsätra, Liljeforstorg in Gränby, Årstagården and Svartbäcksgården) have brought the corona virus to their facilities. A total of twelve residents and “some staff members” tested positive for COVID-19, Uppsala Township states.
– We are now implementing measures in affected households to prevent further spread and we are continuously monitoring the infection situation to be able to assess whether further measures need to be implemented, says Caroline Hoffstedt (S) in a press release.
Stop visiting
Family members of infected residents, who will now be cared for privately, must have been notified. The Bernadotte asylum was this summer one of the most affected in the municipality, with 14 deaths. Liljeforstorg has also had deaths previously as a result of covid-19.
Svartbäcksgården will be completely closed to visitors, while the other three affected residents will limit visits to infected units. A week ago, the nation’s ban on visiting the country’s nursing homes ended.
Fall in Enköping
Also in Enköping, care for the elderly has again been affected by the coronavirus. Three people who received home care tested positive.
– We have a local outbreak, a so-called covid-19 cluster infection. As soon as people showed symptoms, we acted on the authorities’ recommendations and started care according to the routine for patients infected with covid-19, says Lotta Tronêt, head of health and care administration.
