Many municipalities closed all indoor and outdoor sports facilities for children and young people, following Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S )’s announcement on Friday that all unnecessary municipal activities should be closed immediately.
But now the Swedish Public Health Agency (FHM) is issuing a clarification that it is okay to exercise in outdoor facilities, as long as general regulations and guidelines are followed when it comes to preventing the spread of covid infection- 19.
The decision is motivated by the fact that exercise is important for public health and that exercise is a priority activity even during the pandemic.
“This is a message completely in line with the dialogue that the Swedish Sports Confederation has had with the Swedish Public Health Agency in recent days. It is a position that is of crucial importance, especially for our children and young people,” says Björn Eriksson , president of the Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) in a press release.
RF also wants to remind the sports movement that outdoor training, according to the national general council, continues to work well even on running tracks, ski slopes, outdoor gyms or other public places.
The Stockholm Region, on the other hand, writes in a press release that organized outdoor training should be avoided until the end of January, and that this also applies to younger children and young people.
– Infection control Stockholm makes the assessment that due to the health care situation, we must be stricter and tougher than the country as a whole, says director of health and medical care Björn Eriksson to TT.
However, the city of Gothenburg is changing in accordance with the decision of the Public Health Agency and allows organized training in the city’s outdoor facilities.
