On Saturday, France will face Sweden at Friends Arena.
Now the French Football Association confirms that goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has tested positive for the corona virus.
France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda is sent home after testing positive for covid-19, this two days before the Nations League meeting with Sweden. This is confirmed by the French Football Federation and Olympique de Marseille on Thursday night.
The association confirms that the tests were carried out on Wednesday 2 September at the French Clairefontaine training facilities and that the departure to Sweden and Stockholm is scheduled for Friday at lunchtime. Mandanda, on the other hand, will return to Marseille for quarantine tomorrow.
French media report that Mandanda has spent four days with the French team, but it is currently unclear if there has been any contamination.
When the captain of the French team, Didier Deschamps, led the French team to the League of Nations, he announced that midfielder Paul Pogba had not been selected because he had tested positive for the corona virus. Shortly afterwards it also came out Lyons Houssem Aouar’s midfielder, the team. This is because it also tested positive.
The soccer channel has searched for the director of the national team Stefan Petterssson, without success.
