Corona: Carlson on the vaccine: “Never be completely sure”

Many Swedes remember vaccination against swine flu, which caused hundreds of children to suffer from narcolepsy.

However, in Sunday’s SVT “Agenda”, Johan Carlson, Director General of the Swedish Public Health Agency, said the new vaccine will be safer.

– The ambition is that before starting the vaccine campaign, we know more. In January, they will have gone through a longer testing period than the flu vaccine. When we get to the big groups, it will definitely have taken longer, Carlson said on the show.

At the same time, the highest authorities emphasized that it is not possible to be completely sure that the vaccine does not cause side effects.

– I don’t think anyone can guarantee that, but you do everything you can to avoid that situation.

Hallengren: “To achieve an immunity”

The Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren also participated in the program. She believes that several of those who are skeptical about the Covid-19 vaccination will change once the vaccine has gone through the approval process.

– It is clear that it is important that everyone thinks about the willingness to get vaccinated and what are the benefits, Lena Hallengren said on the show.

“Ultimately, the goal is for us to have a vaccination rate such that we achieve immunity,” he continued.

When asked if Lena Hallengren herself will be vaccinated, she replied:

– Yes, I intend to, even if I am not a risk group or work in health and care.
