There has been a storm around Frank Jensen since Jyllands-Posten published two testimonies from women last Friday that he had been sexually harassed by him. The mayor, who is also a vice president of the party for S, seemed for a long time to resist demands to resign, but that he also name one of the women ended up being too much.

More women have emerged over the weekend and Frank Jensen himself has said that he cannot rule out that there will be more testimonies from women. He has recognized his actions and the experiences of women, but with the addition that he lived situations differently from them.

– Although lately, in light of the specific accusations that have been made to me, I have tried to get out the other side and become part of the solution and not of the problem. It does not seem possible in the short term and that is why I have decided to resign as mayor to create space for my party to find a replacement in time before the next municipal elections, Jensen says in a press conference.

Jensen, 59, became a Member of Parliament in 1987 and was Minister for Research and Justice before becoming Mayor in 2010. Now City Vice President Lars Weiss (S) will take over as Acting Deputy Mayor until an incumbent is appointed on October 29. Denmark’s next municipal elections are on November 16, 2021.
